If you are looking to improve the contour of your neck and jawline (or jowls) there are two procedures that can help. If you tend to store fat in the area of the neck, then liposuction of the neck may be recommended. If the skin and muscle in the neck and jawline have become weak over time, then a neck lift may be recommended. When the neck area starts aging you may notice fat deposits at the jawline (jowls), the neck muscles may begin to separate and hang causing visible “bands”, and the skin may droop causing an undesirable “turkey neck” look. In some cases, these changes are caused by the natural effects of aging, while in others having gained or lost weight is the issue. This may even be due to a hereditary factor you’d like to improve early in life.
If you have loose and saggy neck skin or if you are bothered by the aged appearance of your neck, a neck lift can help to restore the smooth, tight, and youthful appearance of your neck and jawline.
At The Pogue Center, we are committed to providing our patients with the personalized surgical care they need. Dr. Mark Pogue specializes in facial cosmetic surgery and can provide you with natural-looking results from your neck lift in Scottsdale.

Neck Lift Techniques
Neck liposuction is accomplished through tiny incisions placed behind the ears and under the chin. With neck liposuction, little straw-like cannulas are used to suction the fat away. A Neck Lift procedure creates a dramatic rejuvenation of the overall facial appearance. It tightens sagging skin and weak muscles as well as eliminates excess fat in the neck and under the jawline.
Your Neck Lift will be performed by Dr. Pogue at his office in Scottsdale, AZ.
How a Neck Lift is Performed
During a Neck Lift procedure, the skin is pulled up and back and the excess skin is removed. This provides a new, more pleasing neck and jawline. The incisions are hidden inconspicuously behind your ears. If you have visible vertical bands in your neck, the neck muscles will need to be tightened as well.
The final result is a more flattering, smoother jawline with a restored youthful neck angle.
Usually, people who undergo this procedure are often thought to have “lost weight” or “toned up” rather than having had cosmetic surgery.
Neck Lift Recovery
Depending on the extent of the procedure, you may have some swelling and localized bruising which can be covered with make-up. Both are generally gone within one to two weeks. A bandage will be placed underneath your chin and an elastic bandage is wrapped around your neck and head.
Sutures that require removal are taken out after about a week to ten days.
Following your neck lift procedure, your neck will have a youthful, more defined profile. Recovery is relatively short and most people will return to their normal activities including work in 7-10 days.
The Cost of Neck Lift Surgery
During your consultation, Dr. Pogue will detail what to expect during your neck lift and go over the expected cost of your procedure. The exact cost of your neck lift will be determined by several factors. We do offer financing options to help make the payment process easier.
